Tiertime Matrix Leveling can effectively reduce the effect of tilt and uneven surface of build platform. The leveling will not affect the print's dimensional accuracy in contrary to other leveling methods. It leveling mechnism is to first measure the platform height at 9 different point and then use the values to generate a compensating raft that gives a flat and leveled build surface. Then the object is print onto the raft for best print quality and platform adhesion.

We recommends users to perform the leveling routine before the printer’s first print job and after adjustment of platform (eg change to a new build plate or menchanically altered the build platform).
Raft is always recommend, as it increase the overall success rate of printing.
1. A piece of paper or Calibration Card or the Nozzle Height Detector (what inlcuded depends on machine models).
2. Computer installed with UP Studio and USB cable connecting to printer.
You will be using the card or paper as a feeler guage to judge whether the nozzle is too close or too far from the build surface.
During this operation, it is recommended for the printer to be located near the computer running Tiertime’s software because you will be switching back and forth between viewing the software and viewing the printer’s nozzle.
Open the software on your PC or laptop and initialize the printer. Click Calibration on the left sidebar menu, then choose Manual in the Calibration.
Clicking the Manual button will open a calibration wizard. Sequentially, press button 1 to 9 to move the extruder to different position of the platform. When moved to a new position, put the paper/calibration card/nozzle height detector under the nozzle and use the up and down botton to move the extruder so that the nozzle start to press against the measuring device .
For using paper/card when the extruder nozzle start to press against the platform and adjust the extruder head up and down (with +/- button) until you can feel a drag when moving the paper/card.
for using the nozzle height detector, you should adjust the nozzle position so that it just press against the sensor pad and trigger a buzz from the sensor.
When the right height is found, click the next button on interface to measure the next point until you finished all 9 points of the platform.
Click Confirm to save the height of all nine points. The software will set the lowest of the nine point’s height as the printer’s nozzle height. Click Confirm to save the nozzle height.
For some printer model, they have automatic leveling function (eg. UP BOX/BOX+, UP300), the leveling prodcedure can be done automatically be the machine's leveling probe.
Go to Calibration and click "Autolevel".
The machine will start the autoleveling process and start measuring the platform height at different points.
When finished measurement, depend on the machine model, UP Studio/ Touchscreen control will pop up a window ask for a manual confirmation of nozzle height value. The nozzle height value determine height where extruder will start to print for the first layer, so it is important to get a optimal nozzle height value for successful printing. If the nozzle height is too large the nozzle will scratch the build surface and clogging itself; if the value is too small the print will be print in air and fail immediately.
The nozzle height value should be the height that a 0.2-0.5mm gap is left between the nozzle and platform. User can use the same method described above to measure the nozzle height. Similarly the interface will allow the user to adjust the nozzle height value by +/- buttons, when good value is found then press ok to save the value.
The nozzle height value can also be modified manually. Just go Nozzle Height=>Manual Setting, then type the value into the text field and press confirm button the save the value.
