Chapter 4. Installation Guide of Extension PCB for Cetus MK3

The extension PCB is required for adding heated build platform and True-touch autoleveling probe. If you are going to add these upgrades, please read this guide first.

Tools Needs:

1. M3 Hex Key

2. Philip Screw Drive

3. Scissors

 

Extension PCB Annotation:

 

Step 1. Open and Remove Machine Casing

Remove the 4 screws on the bottom of the machine.

 

Unplug the power cable and initialization button cable, put aside the casing.

 

Step2. Release the Cables

Remove Cable tide and slot cover

 

unplug the YZ-limit switch cable and release the Y-motor cable.

 

Step3. Remove Adaptor Board

 

 

Step4. Remove Cable Tide, Ground Cable and Z-axis Cap

Remove the cable tide and ground cable.

 

Unscrew the top 2 screws to release the Z-axis cap.

 

Pull the cap upward.

Clean the adhesive residues.

Remove the T-nuts from the slot for later use.

 

Step5. Install the Extension PCB

Slide Extension PCB's back plate into the extrusion slots, PCB should be installed on the backplate by default.

 

Push the PCB downward to the bottom of Z axis.

 

Insert the previously removed T-nuts back the slot (not shown) and reinstall the Z-axis cap.

 

Important: Before connecting cables to the PCB, first trace back and remove the original Y-Z cable. This cable will not be used anymore.

Step6. Connecting

Plug in the Y and Z limit switch cables from the axes into corresponding connectors, just follow the color.

 

Find the new Y-Z limit switch cable (4 pin, branched to 2 connectors at other end) in the extesnion PCB package and use the cable to connect between Extension PCB white socket and mainboard's limit switch connectors.

 

Loosen the connector (labelled as " Platform Heater) for ribbon cable.

Insert the cable into the connector, metal pins facing to mainboard.

 

Fold the cable into shape like the red line indicated below.

 

Insert the ribbon cable through the space between motor and Z-axis bracket.

 

Fold the cable upward and insert into the connector, metal pins facing toward extension board.

This ribbon cable is important for temprature control of heated bed upgrade and autoleveling.

After this step, depends on the upgrade you have purchased, you may install:

1. The True-Touch Autoleveling Probe

2. The Heated Build Platform.
